These little guys showed up today (Thank to Jeff Perrin!). I’m putting these in place of my stock R34 turbos in my 90 R32. These are the GT2860R ‘-5’s. [707160-5]. These flow enough for somewhere around 350 crank hp each, so I suspect you I can get 600whp out of them in twin in my setup with cams. I am sure they will be a delight to install.
When removing a Subaru transmission, a little bit of fluid can leak out of the rear output shaft location. I usually have a small plastic cap I stick in there, but I couldn’t find it. Low and behold a Subaru EJ valve bucket is the perfect size!
It’s like they made it that way! 🙂
Last weekend I replaced the transmission in the GTR, so this weekend I’m moving on to the 08 STI. It needs a new clutch. After getting it removed it wasn’t in as bad condition as I thought it would be. It couldn’t hold at all when launching, but it wasn’t slipping at higher rpm. Of course this leads to the inevitable ‘while you are there’. I might as well replace the brake pad, rotors and pads while I have things taken apart..and that drive shaft could be a carbon fiber one… and ..that EFR7670 could be an EFR8374….
All this modern technology, and I still find great use for my old HP48GX calculator. This is the same exact one I used in college at Purdue, so it is >23 years old…. and it still works as good as it did on the first day. I have a newer HP50, but the 48GX has so much more feel to it, and the keyboard is awesome. RPN FTW.
Drag950 transmission from Jack McGee install done. Took car for test drive. You would never know the transmission is not stock! Shifts are smooth and sharp, no gear noise even with the replacement 1-6 gears. 18-plate clutch and baskets feel good. Engine build next, then 1100whp should be sufficient for my modest needs.
Ah cheap Chinese 18650 batteries. Labeled as 3000mAh, actual capacity 780mAh. I was actually surprised, as these cheap batteries usually test out at 300-400 mAh.
4 cars in my 3 car garage. I like it. Actually I think I could fit 5 with a little more work!
Well, that GenSet panel is a little bit unbalanced.
Anyone on here installed any Powerwalls yet (Tesla home battery pack). I suspect not as they have shipped very few units yet, but perhaps we have an early adopter among us! I’m planning on adding solar to my house and shop, and I’d like to use 8 powerwall batteries as an alternative to a generator. (56kwh, 24kw load) Solaredge has one of the few inverters that supports the Powerwalls to date.
