Driveway

Driveway

Today was part one of three driveway asphalt installations. Total sq ft is around 28,000, but today was the smallest of the three sections. They used about 7 trucks worth, so around 140 tons of asphalt. In total there should be about 525 tons of asphalt (~ 1 million pounds), and about the same amount of rock.

It was a cool day (50F), but that is workable.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

And Happy Thanksgiving in 360 degrees. 😉 A couple of outside pictures at night, as I was curious how well it would work.

While it can do video, it seems in picture mode it uses a pretty slow exposure.. in the entry pic you can see Audrey and a few other little girls zipping by.

Stellar

Stellar

I got my stellar spectroscopy equipment setup tonight and took it for a spin. To start I shot Vega (Alpha Lyrae), which is a spectral A0V star that is great to use for calibration, and 5th brightest star in the sky (in my particular sky it was the 2nd brightest). Vega is a relatively close star being only 25 light years away.

In the graph you can clearly see the hydrogen balmer absorption lines (marked with the blue vertical lines), as well as the wavelength of the lines.

I’m looking forward to doing some spectral analysis of other deep sky objects.

As an aside, I’m going to use the same stuff to do some spectral studies of the different LED light bulbs for the new house. More on that coming soon.

House

House

A bunch of 3D pictures of the current house progress. I’m thinking this would be a cool camera to have permanently installed in a few locations outside and streaming to my central recording archive.. it sort of makes the ultimate security camera.

3D

I did a walk through of the house in 3D. I need to remember to keep the front of the camera in the primary direction. It is kind of cool that you can look around while I am walking, and also while the video is paused. I didn’t do any narration as there were lots of people working, and music.
