It appears I have some spares.
Iām pretty sure the ark of the covenant is in there somewhere.
My office is getting closer to usable. I’ll go ahead and save everyone the trouble and just say it. Yes, I need more monitors. I’ll work on it. š
Oh.. and the floor is mostly done in the lower garage now too…
Now that the deck coating is done we can get started on what goes out there. For now we have our old furniture, but it isn’t matched to the scale. Good enough for a dinner outside by the firepit however.
Inside is coming together.. still art to hang and stuff to unpack.. but it is getting better. The amount of outside light on the main floor is pretty amazing. We hardly need the 100+ can lights on that floor.
I got some of the cabinetry from the old shop moved over, which really makes it easier to move stuff. This shop has more vertical space so I need to do some upper cabinetry mounting, plus I need some kind of tire/wheel storage that is up high.
Ok.. I think I have sufficient storage now. 40x 10TB drives, 12x 12TB drives, plus three old arrays that total about 80TBs. I still need to get a bunch of SSDs for the cluster array, plus a second set of 12x 12TB drives, but that can wait until I get other house stuff done.
Man I love having this data closet in the house.
For the house wide audio, intercom, door and gate communications I decided to give HTD a run. They have a great integrated solution that is end user installed and configured, no cloud resources needed, and just enough zones to make it work in the new house. I’ll have 12 zones driving 46 speakers with 14 in wall touch pads.
In a number of locations around the house I will have the wall mounted touch panels that gives you access to music/sound for all zones, plus intercom, front door and gate access, and access paging. All of these functions can also be done from an app on various ipads laying around the house.
When I did the wiring I ran each room speaker wires to a wall box location, and from there back to the media closet along with a cat6. The touch pad uses the cat 6, and the speaker wire path allows me to add local analog volume controls in places I might not put a touch pad.
The only gotcha is the gate control stuff, which I will have to do some ‘enhancements’ to give the distance to the gate. More on that as I dig into it.
